The 2015 Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year Goes to Dustin G. Richartz
DALLAS - (June 9, 2015) - The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is proud to announce Dustin G. Richartz as the winner of the 2015 Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year for his work in developing safety and health programs throughout his career.
Richartz, senior loss control consultant with Denver-based Lockton Companies, has developed environmental health and safety processes that have reduced Recordable Incident Rates and Lost Time Incident Rates. Additionally, he is an active ASSE member who has volunteered his time to the Professional Development Conference Planning Committee.
The award was announced today during ASSE’s Safety 2015, which runs June 7-10. More than 4,000 occupational health and safety professionals registered to attended the three-day professional development conference and exposition, aimed at offering the latest in products, trends, issues and challenges facing the industry.
The Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Yearaward is given in honor of Edgar Monsanto Queeny, who was president of Monsanto on April 16, 1947, when the explosion of a French freighter destroyed Monsanto's Texas City plant, killing 512 people, including 145 Monsanto employees. The loss and devastation moved him to place even greater emphasis on safety in the company's operations.
It is in Mr. Queeny’s memory that Monsanto Company proudly supports the objectives of ASSE and sponsors the Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year Award.
