2010 Professional Development Grant Frequently Asked Questions
- If I want to apply for more than one professional development grant, do I need to fill out more than one application?
No, only one application is necessary when applying for multiple awards.
- Since the deadline is December 1, 2009 – does that mean it should be postmarked or received by December 1, 2009?
Your completed application must be postmarked by December 1, 2009.
- Can I fax or e-mail my application?
No, you must mail your completed application.
- Are your professional development grants offered to non-US citizens?
Yes, all of our professional development grants are available to non-U.S.
citizens.
- Do I need to be an ASSE member in order to be eligible for your professional development grants?
Most of our awards require ASSE membership. The only award that does not require ASSE membership is the Texas Safety Foundation Professional Development Grant. This award is open to all safety and health professionals.
- How do I apply for ASSE membership?
You can apply for membership by calling ASSE’s Customer Service
Department at 847-699-2929 or visit us on-line at www.asse.org and select“Join”.
- If I am selected for an award, how will I be notified and when will I receive the
funds?
Grant recipients will be notified on or around April 1, 2010. In addition, the award recipients’ names will be posted on the ASSE Foundation website at www.asse.org/foundation on or around April 1, 2010. You can expect to receive a check by the end of May. You will not be contacted if you do not win an award.
- If I already received a Foundation professional development grant in previous
years, am I eligible to apply again?
Yes, members and/or safety professionals are eligible to receive subsequent grants from the ASSE Foundation.
