Every organization confronts risk and safety in some form or fashion. The question is, "How does the organization deal with it or confront it?" The organization is in business to put product and/or services out the back door and make a profit. However, risk and safety issues can diminish the return to the organization if not dealt with in a systematic way. There are elements that make up risk and safety systems that every organization should implement. Those elements include management leadership (organizational culture), employee involvement, planning, implementation and operations (hazards and risk assessment), evaluation of performance for corrective action, and a management review process.

The organization's "system" may have all the "elements" it is supposed to have. But, system performance could
definitely improve. This seminar will set the stage for an analysis of those aspects of the organization's system that are underperforming to determine why. There may be reasons that have not been considered.

    Learn to:
    • Evaluate the organization's commitment to risk and safety and determine why it is performing below expectations
    • Assess the roles management and employees play in risk and safety performance in terms of their responsibility,
    authority, and accountability
    • Analyze how well the elements of the organization's system are in achieving results
    • Determine if the incident reporting and investigation process is identifying "real" issues
    • Evaluation the organization's survey/audit process and the results for management effectiveness
    • Develop a plan for the areas in the organization's risk and safety system that need improvement
