The ASSE Foundation Announces New Military Service Scholarship, New Criteria for the America Responds Memorial Scholarship
Des Plaines, IL (August 5, 2010) — The American Society of Safety Engineers’ Foundation (ASSEF)recently announced the addition of a new, $1000, Military Service Scholarship and the establishment of new criteria for the America Responds Memorial Scholarship. Both awards will be offered during the 2011 application season and students will be able to apply after September 1, 2010.
The new, $1000, Military Service Scholarship has been established by the ASSEF Trustees to provide support for students pursuing a safety degree with a military background. To qualify for this scholarship, students must be enrolled in a safety degree program with at least 60 completed credit hours. The ASSEF has also implemented a criteria change to the $1000 America Responds Memorial Scholarship. To qualify for this award, a student must be pursuing a safety degree, have experience working as an Emergency Responder and be a U.S. citizen.
Scholarships available for 2011 will be announced on September 1, 2010. All available awards are for students pursuing a degree in occupational safety and health, safety engineering, safety management, occupational health nursing, occupational medicine, risk management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, fire safety, environmental safety, environmental health or other safety-related fields. Scholarship requirements range from general criteria to specific requirements such as geographical region and area of study in the field of safety.
