Littleton, Colorado Safety Professional Christine Sullivan Receives Two Prestigious Awards From American Society of Safety Engineers

Littleton, CO (June 18, 2008) — For her ongoing volunteer work and commitment to protecting people, property and the environment, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently presented Christine M. Sullivan, CSP, ARM, of Littleton, CO with the Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service award and the Risk Management and Insurance Practice Specialty Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) award at ASSE’s annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) held June 9-12 in Las Vegas, NV.

Sullivan was recognized with a Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service award for her work on the ASSE PDC Planning Committee. As chair of the committee, she led efforts that have increased the offerings and expanded the PDC program and enhanced the conference experience for attendees and exhibitors. Sullivan also provided insights to the ASSE 100th Anniversary Planning Committee. She received the Risk Management and Insurance (RM/I) SPY award for her involvement with the ASSE RM/I Practice Specialty through contributions to the practice specialty newsletter, RM/Insights, and her help with the committee responsible for the RM/I mini-symposium, “The Loss Control Experience,” to be hosted at CNA headquarters in Chicago, IL on October 7-8, 2008.

Sullivan was recently promoted to department manager, Risk Control Services at the Denver-based Lockton Companies LLC, a privately owned, independent insurance broker.

The Culbertson award is named after ASSE’s late vice president of communications. This award recognizes select members of the executive board, national committee members and practice specialty officers who have helped advance the occupational, safety, health and environmental profession through exemplary volunteer service to the Society during the past year.

The Practice Specialty SPY awards are given to candidates for their contributions to an ASSE practice specialty. A committee of peers chooses the candidates for each practice specialty. Practice Specialties include academics, construction, consultants, engineering, environmental, healthcare, industrial hygiene, international, management, mining, public sector, RM/I and transportation.
