Linda Tapp of New Jersey Named Safety Professional of the Year by the American Society of Safety Engineers
Des Plaines, IL (June 26, 2007) — In recognition of her continued efforts in enhancing workplace safety and health, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) today named Linda Tapp, ALCM, CSP, of Cherry Hill, NJ, as the recipient of the Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) award. Tapp will receive this award during ASSE’s annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) and Exposition – Safety 2007, this June 26 in Orlando, FL.
The annual Safety Professional of the Year award is given to the most outstanding ASSE member for accomplishments and contributions in the occupational safety, health and environmental field. Sponsored by the Monsanto Corporation, the award was created in honor of its third president and son of the founder, Edgar Monsanto Queeny for his personal commitment to protect workers from industrial accidents and health hazards.
Tapp is president and principal consultant of her company Crown Safety LLC and her safety experience spans 20 years. She is responsible for providing occupational safety, health and ergonomics consulting services to all industries throughout North America and the United Kingdom. Tapp has served on the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Board of Directors since 2004 and is the author of a book titled SafetyFUNdamentals: 77 Games and Activities to Make Training Great. She holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Drexel University and an M.S. in Environmental Health from Temple University.
Tapp, a professional member of ASSE for 18 years, currently serves as vice chairman on the ASSE Council on Practices and Standards (CoPS). She is also a member of the Consultants, Mining, Risk Management/Insurance and Management Practice Specialties, as well as a member of the Manufacturing Branch of the Management Practice Specialty. Tapp is also a member of the ASSE Penn-Jersey Chapter and Women in Safety Engineering (WISE).
