ISSA Joins With OSHA, Others to Promote NAOSH Week

Posted in on Fri, Apr 15, 2011

ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, announced it will join the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE), and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Alliance Program participants in raising awareness of workplace safety during the annual North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week, May 1-7, and Occupational Safety and Health Professional (OSHP) Day, May 4.

Currently, 12 people die per day from on-the-job injuries in North America. This is in addition to the many injuries and illnesses reported as work-related as well as those that go unreported.

ISSA leverages its formal alliance with OSHA to help its members prevent injuries and illnesses as part of this worldwide effort to reduce workplace risk in all industries. NAOSH Week is one avenue used to educate members on workplace best practices in an effort to save lives and prevent work injuries and illnesses.

“NAOSH week is another tool we use to educate people on the positive benefits of protecting people, property, and the environment and sharing best practices among our members and their employees all in an effort to continue to enhance workplace safety worldwide,” says ISSA Facility Service Programs Director Dan Wagner, who also is head of ISSA’s Cleaning Industry Management Standard program. “It not only helps us keep our workers safe and contributes positively to a business’ bottom line, but also makes sure there are smiles at the end of the day when that worker returns home safe and sound to their family.”
