DES PLAINES, IL (July 17, 2006)– American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Past President, Eddie Greer, CSP, OHST, of Sugar Land, Texas was recently named to the ASSE Foundation Board of Trustees.

Currently, he is president of Eddie Greer & Associates, a firm that helps companies develop, implement and enhance a safe work environment. Previously, he served as senior corporate health, safety and environment (HSE) manager for Houston-based Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR), the engineering and construction arm of Halliburton, where he worked for over 30 years. He received his BBA from LeTourneau University and completed the Rice Executive Program for Managers.

“Eddie is an asset to the ASSE Foundation board as he has continuously supported programs that provide assistance to new safety, health and environmental professionals and students through mentoring, encouraging educational programs– in Texas and nationally–and developing new scholarship programs,” said Kennith Brock, CSP, ASSE Foundation Chair.

Greer is an active member of ASSE and has contributed to the Foundation by assisting the Houston-based Gulf Coast Past President’s Foundation in establishing a scholarship through the ASSE Foundation. In addition, Greer serves as director on the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and is a trustee for the Texas Safety Foundation. On behalf of the Texas Safety Foundation, Greer recently presented the ASSE Foundation with a $100,000 donation to support students from Texas pursuing advanced degrees in safety, health and the environment.
