Charlotte American Society of Safety Engineers Chapter to Donate Personal Protective Equipment to Habitat for Humanity

Celebrating North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH) April 30-May 6, 2006
WHAT: Fatal work injuries in the construction sector rose eight percent in 2004, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics; fatal falls increased by 17 percent, reflecting increases in the number of fatal falls from ladders and roofs; and, fatal work injuries resulting from being struck by an object rose 12 percent in 2004, making it the third leading cause of on-the-job deaths.
As more volunteers help Habitat for Humanity build homes for those in need, the American Society of Safety Engineers’ Tarheel Chapter is donating personal protective equipment (PPE) to Habitat for Humanity. The American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Tarheel Chapter is donating safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and hard hats to be used by volunteers and Habitat staff in building homes for those in need.
