ASSE’s Colorado Chapter to Participate in 100 Mile Bike Ride to Raise Money for Safety and Health Scholarship
WHAT: The American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Colorado Chapter has created a team (Team ASSE) to participate in a 100 mile bike ride in honor of ASSE’s 100th anniversary celebration to support the ASSE Foundation’s Bervin Hall Memorial Scholarship for students studying the safety, health and environmental field. The chapter has organized a team of cyclists who will ride 100 miles as part of the Subaru Elephant Rock Ride on June 5, 2011, in Castle Rock, CO, to help raise money for the scholarship, which is significantly short of it’s funding goal for 2012 awards.
WHEN: Sunday, June 5, 2011
WHERE: Douglas County Fair Grounds
500 Fairgrounds Drive
Castle Rock, CO
WHY: ASSE is a Society comprised of safety professionals who work diligently each day to make sure millions of workers go to, and and leave work injury and illness free. The Bervin Hall Memorial Scholarship is $13,000 away from reaching its target to fund students pursuing degrees in the safety, health and environmental field. Scholarships such as this provide much needed funding for the education of a new generation of safety professionals that will continue keeping the world’s workplaces safe for all. By sponsoring Team ASSE or participating as a part of the team for the Elephant Rock Ride on June 5, the scholarship will be closer to meeting its funding goals and enabling students to pursue their education. And as the demand for safety professionals continues to increase the need is there. For every rider that registers under Team ASSE, Rocky Mountain Events will contribute $10.00 to the scholarship fund. Individual donations are also accepted for the event in support of Team ASSE.
