ASSE’s Central Florida Chapter Recognizes Jennifer Zipeto as the 2010-2011 Safety Professional of the Year
Des Plaines, IL (October 18, 2010) — Outstanding occupational safety and health professionals are the driving force behind the almost 100-year-old American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). In addition to working daily to prevent injuries and illnesses at work; members volunteer their time and resources to protect people, property and the environment. The Central Florida Chapter of ASSE is proud to announce that Jennifer Zipeto, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), has received the 2010-2011 Chapter Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) award.
Zipeto has been in the safety, health and environmental industry for over 16 years and has held a variety of positions within the field. She began her work as a consultant and has extensive experience in the corporate world. Zipeto currently serves as a Senior Safety and Health Manager for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, FL. In her current position, Zipeto works with a team of 40 safety & health professionals who oversee the safety and health of over 60,000 Walt Disney World Cast Members and over 47 square miles of property.
In addition to her many professional accomplishments, Zipeto has been an active ASSE member since 2000. She has been involved in ASSE at all Society levels and has contributed greatly to the work of the Central Florida Chapter through serving as Chair of the Public Relations Committee, as a member of the Membership and Training/Professional Development Committee, a member of the 2009 Chapter PDC Planning Committee, a member of the 2011 Region IV PDC Planning and Speaker Selection Committees. She has also served as an Associated Safety Professional (ASP) and CSP mentor. Zipeto has been an instrumental member in the ASSE common interest group Women In Safety Engineering (WISE) and has been a strong supporter of ASSE’s North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week, helping garner proclamations from Florida government officials.
When asked about Zipeto’s commitment to the profession and to ASSE, WISE Chairperson and Manager of Safety and Health Operations for Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts Kelly Bernish stated, “Jennifer has been instrumental in launching the WISE Networking Event and Networking Lounge, including fundraising that has made these annual activities a huge success. She has quickly won the trust and confidence of those around her and has become a great resource for many. Jennifer has done an outstanding job and always volunteers when an opportunity presents itself.”
