ASSE’s Annual Professional Development Conference & Exposition Slated for June 2012 in Denver, CO

DES PLAINES, IL (December 7, 2011) – The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) announced today its ‘Safety
2012,’ the Society’s annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) and
Exposition taking place on June 3rd through 6th in
Denver, CO, which will feature more than 250 educational sessions for
occupational safety, health and environmental professionals and one of the
largest safety, health and evironmental expositions highlighting new and

As the pulse of the industry, ASSE’s Safety 2012 PDC is the
SH&E professionals’ source for knowledge, skills and networking on critical
and emerging issues in the growing field of occupational safety, health and the
environment.

Today, SH&E professionals must be knowledgeable in many
areas including environmental management , ergonomics, industrial hygiene,
product safety,  workers’ compensation,
construction safety, leadership, contingency planning  and organizational management, as well as the
more traditional aspects of safety management and engineering which include
fire protection, transportation and risk management.

More than 4,500 safety professionals from around the globe
attended Safety 2011 in Chicago which also included a record braking exposition
with more than 2,000 exhibitors participating. ASSE has high expectations for
Denver as the Society launges its next centure of operations, especially as
demand continues to grow in the global marketplace for occupational safety and
health professionals.

According to a recent report by the National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health entitled The
National Assessment of the Occupational Safety and Health Workforce,
employers
plan to hire at least 25,000 occupational safety and health professionals over
the next five years, yet only about 12,000 new graduates are expected to be
available from the academic programs that provide the needed pool of expertise
nationally.

Safety 2012 educational sessions will include 20 topics
tracks including; Business Skills, Career Development, Construction/Mining,
Emergency Management/Security, Ergonomics, the Environment/Hazardous Material,
Fire Protection, Health and Industrial Hygiene, Healthcare, International
Health and Safety, Human Behavior, Regulatory Issues, Risk Management, Safety
Management, Technical/Engineering/Standards, Training and Education,
Transportation as well as special tracks on Corporate Social
Responsibility/Sustainability, and Executive level topics presented by leaders
in their fields. Each session will give safety, health and environmental
professionals the opportunity to learn the latest knowledge and trends, and
walk away with techniques that can be applied to corporations and organizations
around the globe instantly.

Technical and guest  tours of various sites throughout Denver are also
anticipated as part of Safety 2012.
