ASSE’s Acadiana Chapter Celebrates its 30th Anniversary

Des Plaines, IL (October 5, 2010) — WHAT: The American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Acadiana Chapter in Lafayette, LA, representing local occupational safety, health and environmental professionals from all industries will celebrate its 30th anniversary on October 19, 2010. The chapter was chartered on October 24, 1980, and is comprised of 178 members. The event will take place at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette in Lafayette, LA.

WHY: October of 2010 marks the Acadiana Chapter’s 30th anniversary as a chapter of the almost 100-year-old ASSE, which was formed in October of 1911. This event is to honor past and present members of the Acadiana Chapter in celebration of its 30th anniversary and to recognize the accomplishments of the chapter and its members as dedicated safety professionals. Each past-president of the Acadiana Chapter is invited to speak about important accomplishments, fun memories and experiences from their term. Additional speakers include the chapter’s original section delegate and founding chapter president David O. Barr, CSP, as well as the chapter’s first treasurer, Jack Barnidge, CSP. Please join the chapter as its members celebrate 30 years of protecting people, property and the environment with ASSE.
