ASSE to Host Its First Professional Development Conference in India

CHICAGO, Ill. (May 21, 2014) – The American Society of Safety Engineers, the world’s oldest professional safety society, encourages safety professionals to register for SAFETY INDIA 2014, a two-day professional development conference and exposition in Chennai, India on May 26-27, 2014.

Safety India 2014 is supported by the India Ministry of Labour and Employment in partnership with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) and platinum sponsorship from Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL), a global safety science organization. ASSE will bring a global community of safety experts to India, including local representatives from private and government sectors, and speakers from Australia, China, Germany, India, the Middle East, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. Topics include OSH Safety Management Systems, OSH best practices and global trends, behavior-based safety, port safety, petrochemicals, construction, road safety and more.

Additionally, a Global Leadership Panel comprised of experts from multinational corporations and representatives from the Indian government will be exchanging ideas and taking audience questions.

“The need for awareness, education and training, specifically best practices in occupational, safety and health, is significant in India,” said ASSE President Kathy A. Seabrook. “ASSE’s mission is to promote the safety profession globally. India is a great country where our ASSE members are making a difference.
