ASSE Student Conference Provides Guidance and Opportunities for Next Generation of Safety Professionals
Des Plaines, IL (November 2, 2010) — With 120 students in attendance from 24 American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) student sections, the upcoming ASSE Future Safety Leaders Conference will be an opportunity for students to learn about the importance of communication and leadership in the occupational safety and health profession. The conference will be held November 4-5, at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg, IL, and will feature breakout sessions, round table discussions and a keynote address by speaker Jeb Blount. Blount has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, is the CEO of SalesGravy.com and the author of Power Principles: Do you have the winning edge?
The Future Safety Leaders Conference was created to provide ASSE’s growing student membership with a professional development event that caters to their specific needs as future professionals in the safety, health and environmental (SH&E) field. The upcoming conference will feature session including how to handle phone interviews, resume critiques and mock face-to-face interviews, as well as roundtable sessions on topics like construction, industrial hygiene, management, the public sector, transportation and public relations for student sections. The conference will also feature presentations by ASSE President Darryl C. Hill, President-Elect Terrie Norris, opening messages by Future Safety Leaders Conference Task Force Chair Don Jackson and a sponsor message from ASSE member and Vice President of Environmental Safety, Health and Security at URS, Brad Giles, CSP.
