ASSE Statement on Confirmation of New Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA
Des Plaines, IL (December 4, 2009) — “The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) looks forward to working with Assistant Secretary Michaels. Christopher Patton, CSP, said today following last night’s confirmation by the U.S. Senate of Dr. David Michaels as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
It is reported that Dr. Michaels will be sworn in next week. He is an epidemiologist with extensive experience in research, regulatory and public policy, and program administration and is currently research professor and interim chair in the department of environmental and occupational health at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services, and directs the department’s doctoral program.
