ASSE Members to Tackle Top Workplace Safety Issues at 35th Annual Conference in Houston

WHAT: Local members of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will discuss today’s top workplace safety, health and environmental issues August 3-6 at the ASSE Region III 35th annual Professional Development Conference. ASSE President Warren K Brown, CSP, ARM, CSHM, will address the attendees on the need to continue to increase awareness of the safety professional’s role in preventing injuries and illnesses on the job, especially internationally, noting that recorded work-related incidents and diseases kill 2.2 million workers each year worldwide. Other topics include homeland security support and the role of the safety and health professional presented by retired Brigadier General Jose Riojas; reducing fleet transportation accidents; addressing multi-cultural work environments; effect of substance abuse in the workplace; accident investigation; crane safety; oil and gas production emergency response; chemical safety; and risk management, to name a few. Additionally, Jimmy Cabrera will discuss leadership.
The conference also features technical tours of FMC Technologies and NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Exhibitors representing businesses from across the southwest will also be a part of the conference.
