ASSE June Exposition in Baltimore To Be Its Largest Ever
Des Plaines, IL (May 28, 2010) — The American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) 2010 Exposition to be held June 13-15 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland in conjunction with its annual Professional Development Conference (PDC, June 13-16) is the largest ever in the number of exhibitors and square feet sold since ASSE began holding the annual PDC in 1968. The ASSE Safety 2010 Exposition, which runs in conjunction with the PDC, will have 400 exhibitors who have reserved over 62,100 net square feet – an all-time record. At last year’s exposition, held in San Antonio, 56,150 square feet were used.
The exposition is open to attendees of the PDC as part of their registration. Those in the industry not attending the PDC can visit the exposition for a one-day fee of $95.00 either Monday, June 14, or Tuesday, June 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The ASSE exposition features Fortune 100 and 500 companies, federal agencies, non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, colleges and much more. Many are launching new products and providing interactive exhibits. The products and services on display will include respirators; hearing, head, eye and face protection; welding products; fall protection; air monitoring; sorbent materials; gas detection; gloves and shoes; lab safety products; electrical safety; safety training; technology communications; signage; driver safety systems; green products and services; arc flash protective clothing; dielectric footwear; insulated tools; portable fall protection; spill containment; hazardous materials storage; crane safety; the LiftPod; ergonomic designs; and much more.
One company, Celox out of Pennsylvania (booth 2444), will introduce what they describe as a major injury/emergency breakthrough – a technology that “stops even severe bleeding fast”. The product comes in several forms including granules, gauze pads and nosebleed pads.
Last year, one exhibitor noted, “I heard about the ASSE exposition at the last minute and we are extremely pleased to be here. The show was great for us as we shared best practices with attendees on some of the main causes of injuries – heat, eyes and ears. The attendees at the ASSE show are experts in this area.”
“The interaction with practitioners at the ASSE expo is invaluable for us,” a DuPont Safety Resources Marketing Leader said while manning the DuPont booth last year. “Because the attendees at the ASSE conference are the actual users and implementers of the programs, training and services we supply. This show provides a unique opportunity for companies like us to collect feedback from key users to help us improve and bring solutions to market which are a better fit to the unique challenges of those companies the ASSE PDC attendees work for.” DuPont Sustainable Solutions, based out of Virginia Beach, VA, provides safety training and products for all industries and customers.
The founder of Texas-based Rugged Cycles noted last year, “This exposition is great because this crowd understands and knows the value of safety at work and for companies that understand the major return on investing in the safety profession, safety programs and products. They are quality people.”
The ASSE exposition is held in conjunction with its annual PDC, which runs from June 13 – 16 and will feature more than 200 educational sessions on all areas of occupational safety, health and the environment, leadership and management, an executive summit and will feature several keynote speakers including U.S. Department of Labor Assistant Secretary for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Dr. David Michaels. Thousands of people from more than 38 countries are scheduled to attend this year’s event.
Founded in 1911, ASSE is based in Des Plaines, IL and has more than 32,000 occupational safety, health and environmental professional members located worldwide.
