ASSE Encourages Employers to ‘Salute Your Safety Professionals’ for Occupational Safety and Health Professional Day
DES PLAINES, IL (April 9, 2012) – Safety, health and environmental (SH&E)
professionals from around the U.S. are receiving ‘salutes’ from their employers
as the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) has kicked off its annual
initiative to recognize the men and women who have committed their careers to
protecting people, property and the environment through its ‘Salute Your Safety
The popular program runs in conjunction with North
American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week to be held May 6th-12th,
and Occupational Safety and Health Professional (OSHP) Day on May 9th,
and offers employers and co-workers the opportunity to recognize the
outstanding efforts of their occupational safety and health professionals and
safety teams, who work behind the
scenes identifying and eliminating potential hazards in workplaces around the
world. Their efforts are often achieved with little or no fanfare, sometimes
known as empty headlines.
Occupational safety professionals from areas around
the U.S. and the world including; Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Colorado have
received salutes from their employers this year for their ongoing dedication to
their profession and going above and beyond to help employees and clients with
their safety concerns.
ASSE is encouraging corporations of all sizes to
salute their safety professionals this year for OSHP Day, for the good work
that they do to prevent injuries and illnesses, and contributing positively to

The names of those who are saluted will be highlighted
on ASSE’s OSHP Day websites, to local media outlets and during the May 7th
NAOSH Week kick off events, and at Safety 2012, ASSE’s annual Professional
Development Conference (PDC) and Expo in Denver, June 3rd-6th.
