DES Plaines, IL (March 6, 2012) – In an effort to fund a scholarship for students planning a career in the safety, health and environmental (SH&E) profession, the American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Central Florida Chapter will raffle off a ‘Scholarship Fund Fun Package’ which includes a two night stay at the Orlando Hilton and tickets to popular Orlando area attractions.  People have until May 2 to enter.

Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the ASSE Foundation’s (ASSEF) Chapter Scholarship fund, and will endow an annual $1,000 scholarship to assist in financing the education of future safety professional in the years to come. The raffle will be the final piece in the puzzle of the scholarship which the Central Florida Chapter has been working to endow for several years.

“This is our way of giving back to the profession in perpetuity, contributing to the future of up and coming safety professionals by assisting them financially while they are pursuing their degrees in safety, health and the environment,” explained Central Florida Chapter President Heather Earl, CSP, CPEA, of Walt Disney World Resort.

Prior to the raffle, Central Florida Chapter members had raised funds for the scholarship through silent auctions, certified safety professional (CSP) classes and donations from chapter members and friends. Organizers expect that the proceeds from the raffle will bring in the additional funding necessary to begin awarding scholarships to those who are pursuing a degree in the safety profession.

The ‘Scholarship Fund Fun Package’ includes four tickets to Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios – Orlando, Gatorland and a two-night stay at the Orlando Hilton (certain restrictions apply).

Raffle tickets are on sale for $20. Organizers will sell 1,000 tickets between now and May 2nd, when a winner will be drawn during ASSE’s Central Florida Chapter Professional Development Conference (PDC) at Orlando’s Valencia College. The winner does not need to be present at the drawing. To purchase a raffle ticket please go to the ASSE Central Florida Chapter website at .
