ASSE Announces Centennial Sponsorship by BP
The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is pleased to announce centennial sponsorship by BP, one of the world’s leading international oil and gas companies. BP will provide support for the Society and the safety, health and environmental (SH&E) profession as ASSE enters a new century of protecting people, property and the environment. With a focus on workplace safety and health, the collaboration between BP and ASSE represents a joint commitment to supporting the safety and health professional, as well as reducing risks in the workplace.
Collaboration between ASSE and BP includes working on the Center for Safety and Health Sustainability as well as the Elevating the Value of the Safety Professional project. These two ASSE priority initiatives are expected to serve as primary drivers for raising the global profile of safety and health professionals, and providing valuable resources for employers to better manage their related programs more effectively. BP’s sponsorship of ASSE’s eighth annual Executive Summit at its 2011 Professional Development Conference reflects BP’s commitment to senior executive level involvement in safety and health and the role played by the SH&E profession.
“British Petroleum would like to recognize the American Society of Safety Engineers during its 100th Anniversary year for its many contributions to Safety, Health and Environment professionals around the world. As a global stakeholder, BP shares ASSE’s commitment to advancing the Safety profession. To that end, BP looks forward to collaborating with ASSE on projects to build the global profile of safety professionals as well as increase the recognition for the role they play in risk assessments and reduction,” said Mike West, vice president, Safety and Incident Investigation.
