ASSE and IOSH to Host InterConstruct 2011 Virtual Conference for International Safety Professionals
The American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) and the United Kingdom’s Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) will host InterConstruct 2011, an international virtual conference for networking, professional development and discussions about best practices in the safety, health and environmental (SH&E) field. InterConstruct 2011 will take place October 18-19 and will be available online for all participants via live and on-demand educational webcasts.
For the last ten years, InterConstruct has been a key event for international safety and health practitioners for professional development, networking and education regarding international safety and health issues. For the first time in the history of the conference, InterConstruct will be offered online, and safety and health professionals around the world will be able to easily participate in the program from any location. The conference is ideal for those in the building and construction industry, global employers, small and medium businesses, government policymakers and client organizations.
Session topics will cover a wide range of international safety issues, including construction safety in an international marketplace, safe scaffolding operations, health issues in construction, prevention by design and more. Key speakers include Christine M. Branche, PhD, current principal associate director and acting director for the Office of Construction Safety and Health for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH); Bill Davis, senior risk engineering consultant based out of Zurch, Switzerland; Peter Furst, MBA, Registered Architect, CSP, ARM, REA, CRIS, CSI; Matt Gillen, MS, CIH, coordinator for the NIOSH Construction Program; and John Lacey, CEO of Lincsafe.
All program sessions will be recorded for access to the material for up to 30 days after the conference. Attendees will also be able to access papers, videos, slides and more through the InterConstruct 2011 online portal. Attendees are able to earn up to 1.6 Continuing Education Units (CEU) through participation and IOSH members are eligible for CPD points. After the early registration date of October 7, 2011, registration fees increase for all groups.
