DES PLAINES, IL, & ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (May 10, 2011) – On Monday, May 9, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) signed a letter of agreement with the Abu Dhabi Environment, Health and Safety Center (AD EHS Center) aimed at continuing efforts to increase occupational safety and health worldwide. The agreement provides that both organizations will exchange information on issues related to enhancing work safety and increasing occupational safety, health and environmental professionals’ knowledge.
“ASSE is a global society,” Dr. Darryl C. Hill, CSP, said today at the signing in Abu Dhabi. “Our members work in all industries around the world. This is an important agreement as it helps us continue to teach others our knowledge of what works when it comes to protecting people, property and the environment. This is good for employees and employers as well as helping increase quality of life for all.”
H.E Majid Al Mansouri, Chairman of the EHS Higher Committee, commented, “Through this agreement, the AD EHS Center will be benefitting from the expertise of the world’s oldest and one of the largest professional safety organizations.”
Areas of cooperation between ASSE and the AD EHS Center include the organization of seminars, workshops and conferences, the development of standards for the registration/evaluation of occupational safety and health specialists in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, contributing to the development of awareness programs for youth on occupational safety and health issues and participation in technical meetings organized by the ASSE.
