American Society of Safety Engineers’ Student Section Receives 2007 Leadership Award for Outstanding Academic Organization
Des Plaines, IL (March 28, 2007) — The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Student Section at Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire was nominated and will receive the Keene State College 2007 Leadership Award for Outstanding Academic Organization. This annual award is presented to the academic organization that best exemplifies its mission/purpose as well as contributes to the student experience on campus.
Keene State College was nominated on March 9, 2007 by the student body. The 2007 Leadership Award for Outstanding Academic Organization will be given at the 2007 Leadership Awards banquet, which will be held on April 15, 2007 at 6:00 pm in the Mabel Brown Room of the Student Center.
To warrant this award, the student section of ASSE at Keene State College has put on several events in the past. The events included: a Student Involvement Fair, a Health Fair and an Alumni Safety Day, which included a Safety and Health Fair. The student section also attended the 36th Annual Safety and Health Conference and Exposition in Nashua, New Hampshire where they had an opportunity to network with companies from around the nation and attend professional development workshops.
The primary focus for the safety profession is prevention of harm to people, property and the environment. Safety science is a twenty-first century term for everything that goes into the prevention of accidents, illnesses, fires, explosions and other events, which harm people, property and the environment.
