American Society of Safety Engineers Launch Redesigned Web Site
Des Plaines, IL (February 7, 2007) — The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) today launched its redesigned website www.asse.org to provide its members, customers and the general public with a new look allowing for enhanced navigation capabilities and easy access.
“We are continually providing our members and customers with the information and products they need,” ASSE President Donald S. Jones, Sr., P.E., CSP, said today. “The redesigned ASSE web site is easy to navigate and a great value for our members and the public seeking information and resources on all aspects of occupational safety, health and the environment. It’s an invaluable tool.”
Founded in 1911, ASSE is the oldest and largest safety society and is committed to protecting people, property and the environment. It has more than 30,000 occupational safety, health and environmental practitioner members located around the globe.
The redesigned web site’s overall objective is to provide a “better” user experience while presenting a wide variety of key information such as on chapters; learning about ASSE products and services; registering for an event or buying a book; downloading key topic articles from ASSE’s Professional Safety journal; and more. The goal is to provide quality information quickly and efficiently.
“The site is also intended to help ASSE members and other safety, health and environmental professionals communicate the value of the profession and the Society to their employers, employees and the general public,” Jones added.
Features of the new site include a Google search engine; flash messaging system; clean, concise layout; standardized icons; and back office integration/reporting functions. An easier navigation layout allows the user to see what information is contained in each area without having to drill down into a section. Standardized icons have also been incorporated. Universally recognized by consumers, these icons allow users to quickly navigate to the member’s login, home page, shopping cart, contact information and search function.
The updated web site contains more than 3,000 pages and is constantly growing. The new web structure also minimizes the amount of time it takes to maintain and build the web pages.
ASSE is based in Des Plaines, IL. Its members manage, supervise, research and consult on safety, health, transportation and environmental issues in all industries, government, labor and education.
