American Society of Safety Engineers’ Chapter of the Year Awards go to Central Valley, Southern Nevada, Boston

Des Plaines, IL (June 1, 2007) — The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently announced the chapter of the year awards went to Central Valley (California) – small chapter, Southern Nevada- medium chapter and Greater Boston- large chapter. The awards will be given at ASSE’s annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) to be held in Orlando, FL on June 24 – 27, 2007.

ASSE’s Central Valley chapter was awarded chapter of the year in the small chapter category for their strong leadership and community activities and the creativity of their events. Throughout the year the chapter was host to many events, including a Disney Safety Program and a workers’ occupational safety and health training and education program titled “How WOSHTEP can Benefit Your Business”.

ASSE’s Southern Nevada chapter was recognized for their strong professional development activities, dedication to supporting the ASSE Foundation (ASSEF) and excellent communications such as newsletters and website. The Southern Nevada chapter held a number of events, which included a yearlong child safety program partnered with the Fire Prevention Association of Nevada titled “Risk Watch” and they adopted a family for the December holiday season.

For the second consecutive year, ASSE’s Greater Boston chapter was awarded chapter of the year in the large chapter category. The Greater Boston chapter was recognized for their extensive calendar of events and educational opportunities and their informative newsletters. The chapter hosted many events, which included the 7th annual BOSGO Golf Tournament where they raised over $4,000 to support the Greater Boston Scholarship Fund and also held a technical seminar titled “The New Hexavalent Chromium”.

“We are honored to be receiving the chapter of the year award. With so many chapters recognized, it is truly an honor. This award is recognition for the many members of the Greater Boston Chapter who invest their time and effort to ensure the Greater Boston chapter provides excellent service to the membership,” stated ASSE’s Greater Boston Chapter President Remi Fleuette.

Each chapter of the year receives a $1,000 award, a $500 stipend to send a chapter representative to the annual ASSE PDC to receive the award, recognition on a plaque at ASSE headquarters and an award for the chapter president displaying the award-winning year.
