American Society of Safety Engineers Boston and Indiana-Based Chapters Donate Funds Toward Occupational Safety & Health Scholarships
Des Plaines, IL (August 9, 2007) — Due to their ongoing commitment to occupational safety, health and environmental (SH&E) education, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Greater Boston and ASSE Central Indiana chapters recently donated nearly $60,000 to the ASSE Foundation toward undergraduate and graduate scholarships for students pursuing degrees in SH&E or related fields.
The ASSE Greater Boston Chapter donated more than $36,000 to increase their existing annual scholarship award from $1,000 to $2,000 and to add a second scholarship for $1,000 that will be awarded each year through the ASSE Foundation. There is no limit on the number of years award recipients can receive these scholarships.
In addition, $23,000 was donated by the ASSE Central Indiana Chapter to endow a $1,000 award. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate occupational safety and health degree program or a closely related field. Priority will be given to Indiana residents attending school in Indiana or anywhere in the U.S. or to non-residents attending an Indiana university.
