PHMSA Launches Pipeline Safety Update Website
DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has created a new website called Pipeline Safety Update to provide information on pipeline safety, which is available at http://opsweb.phmsa.dot.gov/pipelineforum/pipeline_safety_update/index.html, PHMSA states,
The Pipeline Safety Update provides the actions taken by USDOT, the states, communities and pipeline operators, including the passage of the Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty and Job Creation Act of 2011. It also includes an overview of the nation’s pipeline infrastructure, the factors that affect pipeline safety and the role of stakeholders in pipeline safety. The new site was developed because of recent pipeline disasters, which caused Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to instruct DOT to examine the nation’s pipeline infrastructure and report the findings to the public.
