OMB Says Shutdown Halted Hundreds of OSHA Inspections and Consultations

In a report  that summarizes the overall impact of the 16-day government shutdown, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) said that OSHA missed about 1400 inspections, conducted about 16 percent of the inspections it conducted in the same period the year before, and missed providing consultative services to about 500 businesses.  OSHA furloughed the majority of its staff and responded only to fatalities, catastrophes and imminent-danger situations during the shutdown.
