OMB Clears Final OSHA HazCom Rule

Posted in on Fri, Mar 2, 2012

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs of the Office of Management and Budget has concluded its regulatory review of OSHA’s long-awaited rulemaking to align more closely U.S. hazard communication requirements with the UN’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classifying and labeling chemicals.  Any changes to the rulemaking are not known.  It will be interesting to see if OSHA is able to move ahead with its February timetable for publication, as stated in the latest reg agenda (http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgendaViewRule?pubId=201110&RIN=1218-AC20).  See OIRA’s action at http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eoDetails?rrid=121101.
