NTSB Recommends FMCSA Ban Use of Cell Phones in Trucks

In a Highway Accident Report for a March 2010 truck-tractor semitrailer median crossover collision with a 15-passenger van in Munfordville, KY, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recommended the following to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) –

“Prohibit the use of both handheld and hands-free cellular telephones by all commercial driver’s license holders while driving in commercial operations, except in emergencies. (H-11-XX) [This recommendation supersedes Safety Recommendation H-06-27.]“
