NIOSH Publishes Alert on Beryllium
NIOSH has published an alert on beryllium, available at http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/docs/2011-107/pdfs/2011-107.pdf. “Preventing Sensitization and Disease from Beryllium Exposure” warns that cases of beryllium sensitization and chronic beryllium disease have been reported from exposures below the current OSHA PEL of 2.0 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3) of air and the current NIOSH REL of 0.5 μg/m3.
