NIOSH Board of Scientific Counselors Meeting Set for September 18
NIOSH has announced a meeting of its Board of Scientific Counselors (BoSC) for September 18, 2012, at NIOSH headquarters in Washington, DC. The meeting is open to the public but limited by the space available. The meeting room accommodates approximately 50 people. Specifically, the Board provides guidance on NIOSH’s research activities related to developing and evaluating hypotheses, systematically documenting findings and disseminating results. The BoSC evaluates the degree to which NIOSH activities (1) conform to appropriate scientific standards, (2) address current, relevant needs, and (3) produce intended results. Matters to be discussed at this meeting include the NIOSH Director Update; Implementation of the National Academies Program Recommendations for Hearing Loss Prevention, Personal Protective Technologies, and Health Hazard Evaluations; Construction Safety and Health, Respiratory Disease Studies, and Traumatic Injury Prevention.
