GAO Finds Feds Giving Contracts to OSHA Violators

The Government Accountability Office has found found that major worker safety and health violators are among the federal government’s largest contract awardees. The report says, “From GAO’s analysis of OSHA data, GAO…found that 8 of the 50 largest workplace health and safety penalties assessed during…fiscal years 2005 through 2009 were assessed against 7…companies that received federal contracts in fiscal year 2009.” The report can be found at http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d101033.pdf.
