FMCSA Final Rule on Driver-Vehicle Inspection Report for Intermodal Equipment
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has eliminated the requirement for drivers operating intermodal equipment (IME) to submit–and intermodal equipment providers (IEPs) to retain–driver-vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) when the driver has neither found nor been made aware of any defects in the IME. This responds to a joint petition for rulemaking from the
Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Association (OCEMA) and the Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL). This final rule is effective June 12, 2012. http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-06-12/html/2012-14215.htm
