Democrats and Republicans Join in Seeking Codification of VPP

Posted in on Fri, Apr 29, 2011

Senators Michael Enzi (R-WY) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) [S 807] and Representatives Thomas Petri (R-WI) and Gene Green (R-TX) (HR 1511] have introduced bipartisan legislation that would put into law OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program.  Senator Enzi’s statement on introduction can be found at http://drownehs.com/Documents/VPP%20Act%20statement.pdf.  ASSE last year supported this same effort when it was introduced by Senator Enzi following the Administration’s attempt to cut VPP funding.  In the FY 2012 budget for OSHA proposed by the Administration, funding for the program has been restored.  In 2010, ASSE supported the legisislation in a letter to Senator Enzi in 2010.
