Attend the NIOSH PtD Conference August 22-24 in DC
The draft agenda for the August 22-24 NIOSH conference Prevention through Design: A New Way of Doing Business – Report on the National Initiative can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/ptd/a-new-way/. The conference marks the mid-point of the PtD National Initiative. It is aimed at taking stock of the nation’s progress in improving worker safety and health through the inclusion of prevention methods in all designs that impact workers. Progress will be reported through presentations showcasing research results, engineering education enhancements, successful stakeholder practices, and policy development and advancement. An additional goal of the conference is to identify areas that require additional focus, for example, designs to reduce the risk of violence against public service and retail workers. Please keep in mind that this initiative is not meant to determine what NIOSH can do but what the nation can do to better incorporate PtD as a means of preventing injuries and saving lives.
