ASSE Urges More Funding for CSB to Deal with Deepwater Investigation

Posted in on Fri, Sep 17, 2010

ASSE has urged increased funding for the US Chemical Safety and Hazards Investigation Board (CSB) due to concern over the impact on CSB’s resources from the Congressionally requested investigation on the Deepwater Horizon explosion. In a letter (http://www.asse.org/professionalaffairs_new/) to Senate Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Dianne Feinstein, ASSE said CSB’s limited resources already make it difficult for the agency to investigate the needed number of chemical explosions. Many other chemical explosions carry as much impact in other industries as the Deepwater carried in the offshore oil and gas industry.
