ASSE Supports NIOSH in WTC Responder Health Care Bill
Legislation (HR 847) to fund health care for 9/11 World Trade Center responders failed in the House of Representatives in July while the Senate has taken no action on a companion bill (SB 1344). Without passage, ASSE is concerned that NIOSH’s ability both to continue to operate its World Trade Center Health Program and maintain its primary mission of supporting occupational safety and health research and education is threatened. ASSE expressed its support for NIOSH in a letter commending SB 1344’s sponsor, Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand for her leadership in supporting NIOSH in the bill.
