Region IV: Louisiana, Area Director Candidate

 

Paul Amedee, CSP

 

Biography

Paul Amedee, CSP, has worked in the area of occupational safety, health and environment for over 23 years. Paul has held leadership positions directly supervising field safety professionals, as well as corporate management roles developing safety plans and leading strategic initiatives. During his five years with The Shaw Group, from 2006 to 2011, Paul served as corporate environmental health and safety compliance manager.  Paul later served as the quality health safety security environmental leader for Champion Technologies, a global specialty chemical company serving the oil and gas and refinery industries. Currently, Paul is the vice president of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) for the Safway Group with more than 110 locations in the U.S. and Canada and a growing system of distributors worldwide.

Paul is active in the Greater Baton Rouge chapter of ASSE and has served in all positions of the Board. His accomplishments include:

  • 2009 - 2010 Safety Professional of the Year Greater Baton Rouge Chapter
  • Recipient of the Chapter President’s Award for outstanding service
  • Helped achieve Chapter Star as president
  • Fostered outreach programs with local high schools
  • Selected to speak at ASSE’s Professional Development Conference in Dallas 2015

Paul Is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a designation awarded through the Board of Certified Safety professionals. He received his bachelor of science in education from Nicholls State University in Louisiana.

Paul’s background includes safety management, safety management systems, safety compliance and auditing and array of commercial and industrial markets including, oil and gas (upstream and downstream), chemical processing, refineries, and power (nuclear, hydro and fossil fuel). Paul is a Professional member of ASSE.

Platform Statement

Since becoming a member of ASSE I have recognized that as members we receive much more than we can ever repay to the Society. ASSE gives its members the opportunity to gain valuable resources to benefit them professionally. We also gain great friendships, peers and mentors as a result of our involvement. Understanding that these benefits are made available from involvement at all levels, it would be an honor to serve as your Area Director.

As I have done while serving in all seven chairs of the Executive Board of the Grater Baton Rouge Chapter, I will represent your concerns and interest to Region 4. I will also work eagerly with all Louisiana Chapters to assure that the interests of all of the Chapters will be served.

I pledge to have open communication between chapters under my leadership. I will do everything possible to assist the Louisiana Chapters whenever possible.
