Platform Statement

Key to the continued success of CoPS is how to best manage our technical knowledge base and remain on the cutting edge of understanding today’s key issues, especially new and emerging technologies. My view on today’s challenges is based on personal experience and involvement with CoPS. I have been committed to and involved in this Council over the past 12 years. Continuous improvement is the foundation of my vision, and as your VP I will stress the following strategies.
Managing our knowledge capital by sustaining our body of knowledge and communicating what we know and have learned on an ongoing basis. This means sharing our knowledge on important issues through technical publications and newsletters, in addition to seminars and Webinars while collaborating with all ASSE Councils.

Building on our body of knowledge concerning emerging technologies is more than just keeping abreast of developments in the field. We should become more knowledgeable about their risks and influence the development of risk control and mitigation methods.

Expanding the scope of Standards Development by extending standard making efforts into emerging technologies including nanotechnology.

Facilitating communications with the other ASSE Councils to keep them informed of issues, challenges and the changing technical landscape for the safety professional.

Supporting continued success with growth of Practice Specialty membership to support other membership initiatives.
We can all agree that CoPS is expertly providing ASSE members with the latest in SH&E best practices and key strategies to help us meet the challenges of improving health and safety performance. ASSE members need considerable intellectual resources to maintain the competitive balance in today’s business environment. Opportunities for continuous improvement must be identified and exploited. Our knowledge capital is immense and it needs to be skillfully managed. I hope you will see me as a clear choice to fulfilling this challenge.
