Platform Statement

My vision of the Regional Vice President for Region V includes a number of roles with service to you, the members and volunteer chapter leaders, as the primary one. Underpinning that service role I imagine there may well be many other things such as facilitator, sounding board, advocate and perhaps mentor. Whatever the role, I pledge to work with you to bring improvements and efficiencies to chapters and to build consensus within the region as we look to have an impact in the larger world of occupational safety and health.

I submit for your approval these three pillars as the base for a term as your RVP.  1) To serve as an active listener to ensure our chapters and region can build on the great work of the volunteer leaders who preceded us.  2) To enhance networking between the chapters so that your great ideas can spread. 3) To work closely with chapters to ensure we effectively recruit the next generation of safety innovators and champions into the ranks of Region V.

A native of the mid-west, I was born in Wisconsin, spent my youth up Illinois and have now lived in Missouri for many years. Members of my extended family live in all 9 of the states that make up our region and I have traveled both to and through each of them extensively. The Upper Midwest, and its somewhat unique set of values, has shaped me both personally and professionally. Those values involve for me; an appetite for hard work, a desire to help others, a love of lifelong learning, fairness, persistence, and perhaps most importantly a sense of humor.  As RVP for our region I pledge to bring these values to the role as we work together to enhance our profession.
