Platform Statement

As your Senior Vice President, I will continue to listen and bring your voice directly to our Society Board. Our new governance model allows the smaller Board of Directors to be more responsive to our membership and to keep the Society sustainable for the long term. With our emphasis on strategic planning we have been able to be forward thinking, set a clear direction, address barriers and focus on the changing needs of our increasingly global profession. We now have four key areas of strategic importance: member communities, professional development, standards and the value of the profession.  This allows our Society leadership and staff to focus on specific operational needs such as improving technology, delivering education in more accessible ways and offering more of the standards you want and need.  Ultimately, that means adding value for you as a member.

And speaking of value, I am committed to focusing on member value, and that requires acknowledging that members need to be able to choose how they engage and benefit from the ASSE community, the premier professional association for safety.  We all have different backgrounds, skills and experiences, but we share core values, and we may want to offer our valuable time and talents in diverse ways.  Let’s face it, we need more volunteers advocating for the safety profession, and for making sure members like you have the resources needed to enhance your career and achieve your vison of success.

In our first year, the new smaller Board has worked well together to tackle complex challenges, but there is still more work to be done!  We need Board continuity to finish the work we started. I will stay engaged as a member of practice specialties and common interest groups, and attend or teach at both virtual education sessions and at live conferences. In addition, I’ll advocate for ASSE to leverage the best practices and learnings that other professional organizations have found to be most successful serving their membership and professions’ advocacy. Like many of our membership, my 20+ year OSH background is unique, but early in my career I discovered ASSE. This organization served me well, added to my success, and now I can add value by giving back as an active volunteer. My first year on the Society Board has been busy and rewarding, and my goal is to continue to use my leadership and financial skills, along with my past experiences to benefit the Society. I am committed to our success and enhancing our Society strategy, so our Society thrives and will be there to meet your future needs.

I would be honored to serve on the Board as Senior Vice President, should you choose to elect me.  Thank you for your consideration.
