PLATFORM STATEMENT

I believe as ASSE’s largest region we must continue to make ASSE membership rewarding and within reach on a grassroots basis. In support of this belief I offer a record of bringing local ASSE services to our membership by assisting in the formation of three new sections and a new chapter while serving as the New England Area Director. I also served as the first chairperson of the New England Area PDC, delivering quality, local PD opportunities based upon shared scientific knowledge and data and increased means of networking among colleagues. More recently I have served on the Society’s Education and Training Committee working to improve the leadership conference and provide consistency in training chapter officers to better prepare them for their role in serving the membership.

Our employers’ willingness to subsidize membership in professional organizations will be further scrutinized relative to the benefit to the corporate bottom line in this competitive global marketplace and underperforming economy. To continue our Region and Society’s success, we must utilize innovative means to validate the value of Society membership to our employers and society in general.

Throughout my years of volunteer service to ASSE, the profession and through my professional experience I have gained valuable skills and insights I can contribute to the process of expanding upon our successful Region/Area/Chapter programs. I envision extending our Society’s grassroots base by providing the leadership to make the chapter experience relevant at the local and regional level for all of our members. I am proud to have been a part of the ASSE in the past and today I ask for your support to allow me to continue to do so. I welcome the opportunity to serve you, the members of our Society in realizing this vision.
