PLATFORM STATEMENT
The key to continued success of CoPS is to nurture and improve our technical knowledge base: our members. Over the last two years, growth in the Practice Specialties has been flat. We must strive to ride the cutting edge wave surrounding today’s key issues. Our Society has challenged us as members to continually improve ourselves and in turn the Society. We can accomplish this through leveraged technologies such as the Body of Knowledge, continued success of the Practice Specialties, Standards Development Committee growth and the development of our Branches and CIGS.
As a committed volunteer leader and your VP, I will emphasize the following vision: Supporting and managing our body of knowledge through the cutting edge use of technology, and timely publications; working with members to extend their knowledge on emerging issues such as pandemics, nanotechnology, and global EHS issues; supporting our CoPS members through the use of available technology to increase their working knowledge; continue the expansion of Standards Development into new arenas; continue to build bridges amongst the four councils and to foster improved communications; working to identify growth opportunities in Practice Specialties and to increase the benefits of current members through increased visibility of the Council and to support the Safety Profession
Our knowledge capital is the greatest asset to the Society and its members. We need to manage and grow this most important commodity. We can best do this through searching and implementing continual improvement opportunities such as the Body of Knowledge, great technical publications, and supporting speaking opportunities within CoPD events. I hope that you will see that I have the vision, determination and the skills to fulfill this continued challenge.
