PLATFORM STATEMENTI have been fortunate to see the inter-workings of ASSE and meet many wonderful people from the grass-roots chapter level through the national organization. Throughout, I have consistently found that members are committed to the profession and the Society exists for its members. Without the members, there is no Society!
ASSE plays a vital role in helping members be the best professionals they can be. To do this, ASSE must be run in the most efficient and fiscally responsible manner possible. We have seen what can happen when this is not the case. I want to make sure that this continues to be done in the best interest of the Society and its membership.
I have had the privilege of holding many offices in ASSE and numerous positions in industry throughout my 35 years in the petrochemical industry. This included many industry management positions and ASSE offices from the chapter level up to and including president of the Society. Over this time, I have been involved first-hand with the operations as well as the financial elements of the organizations. One thing I have learned is that ASSE is a business and should be run as one.
For ASSE to be successful, we must have a plan for serving you (the members) and have the proper allocation of resources (financial and otherwise) to accomplish the plan. It is vital that the finances be tied closely to what needs to be accomplished for the membership.
I would like to have the opportunity to use my demonstrated strengths/experience (ASSE and industry) and education (M.B.A.) to plan/lead as the Vice President of Finance to ensure that ASSE stays on a financially sound footing and delivers cost-effective services to members.
