Platform Statement

Recently I delivered a presentation to 80 Safety & Health Professionals at a meeting of the Buffalo area office’s cooperative partners, including CEO’s of some organizations. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange best practices between organizations and to brainstorm ideas on how to leverage resources to get the most impact on worker safety & health issues. One of the CEO’s asked, “How does this affect the bottom line?”

Though this can sometimes be a challenge to answer, we rely on similar decisions all the time. “If I invest time and money in Safety & Health, what benefits do I receive” When all is said and done, your chosen level of energy and enthusiasm often shapes your return on investment. This can be demonstrated by teaching how, “Safety Pays.”

My goal as Area Director for Upstate New York is to bring a new source of energy and enthusiasm to our chapters. I hope to leave a legacy of how we can leverage our sometimes meager resources (active members) and to do more with less, in our chapters. When my time as Area Director is up, I want to be able to demonstrate my success. I wish to present our membership with clear opportunities to how they can do more with less, and guide our chapter officers in how to effectively deliver this message by leveraging their resources to the fullest capacity. I hope to present many ideas and examples to our membership; ways that we can justify our time and resource commitments to an excellent professional organization.
