Using Safety Leading Indicators to Predict Safety Lagging Indicator Performance

Dr. Marchesani has more than 35 years of hands on international EHS experience in the chemical industry. He was the North American VP of EHS for Basell Polyolefins, a joint venture between BASF and Royal Dutch Shell. He has worked for Allied Chemical, Rohm & Haas, Imperial Chemicals Industry, Himont, a joint venture between Mont Edison and Hercules, and Montell, a joint venture between Mont Edison and Royal Dutch Shell. In addition, Vince worked some 11 years in government writing environmental regulations.

In the design and implementation of EHS governance, management and leadership systems Vince’s work has been instrumental, innovative and cutting edge. He is equally proficient in the areas of data interpretation and analysis, mergers and acquisitions, EHS auditing and crisis identification, prevention, response planning and management.

He holds three copyrights for the development of leading indicator environmental health and safety performance improvement systems. In addition he has published numerous papers on EHS topics, crisis management and co-authored a book on air pollution management. Further he has chaired executive management and leadership committees at the American Chemistry Council, and The Society for Plastics Industries in Washington DC. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Bioscience/Biochemistry and a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering and Science from Drexel University and a Ph.D. degree in Health Safety and Environmental Management from Rutgers University.
