Esta presentacion describe la nueva regla de seguridad ocupacional del Departamento de Energia, Titulo 10 del Codigo de Regulaciones Federales, Parte 851 (10 CFR 851), la cual tambien se conoce como el Programa de Salud y Seguridad Ocupacional. La nueva regla tiene un efecto significativo en las operaciones y facilidades del Departamento de Energia (DOE) y la Administracion Nacional para la Seguridad Nuclear (NNSA). Los requisitos son mas exigentes que los de OSHA y las penalidades son mas severas. Esta presentacion provee datos historicos de la nueva regla, su proposito y aplicabilidad, requisitos para los contratistas, derechos de los empleados y procedimientos de cumplimiento.



This presentation describes the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) new worker safety and health rule, 10 CFR 851, also known as DOE’s Worker Safety and Health Program. This new rule has a significant impact on operations at Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facilities. Its requirements are in many areas more stringent than OSHA’s and the penalties more severe. The presentation will provide a background on the rule, its purpose, a description of who is covered, DOE requirements, contractor requirements, and employee rights and responsibilities. The presentation will also explain the enforcement provisions of the rule.
