Sponsored by the Council on Practices and Standards: The New Face of Safety

Description: As the field of Safety enters the 21st Century, the new wave of SH&E professionals will demand more meaningful metrics and rationale for where organizational resources will be spent in the name of SH&E. The outcome will be a shift from managing regulations and hazards to managing the risk. This shift in thinking will make terms such as “zero accidents” and “safety first” obsolete, replacing them with the concept of “Acceptable Risk.” What will emerge are SH&E professionals who are viewed more as “partners” on their business team then their predecessors.
